Our Rehoming Support Program

01

No Costs for Parent(s)

The program is funded by donations and the community's use of our Pet Care Services to reduce the family's stress and financial burden.

02

No Time Restrictions

Accepted cases are provided support and care for as long as it takes for FTLOA to find the best furever home possible for the animal to thrive.

03

Home-Styled Foster Care

Pets that are in our Rehoming Support program typically also become fosters. Our Foster Care program is kennel- and cage-free. Animals are housed in private dwellings with all the accommodations of home and routine one-on-one love from FTLOA's staff.

04

Emergency Care Included

Animals get sick, and can be injured. FTLOA will ensure fostered to-be-rehomed pets are routinely examined by a licensed veterinarian and provided the appropriate preventative health care. Emergency medical care will also be handled by us at no cost to the family.

05

Behavioral Rehabilitation

There are several common reasons why a family decides to rehome their pet, or surrender the animal to a local shelter, and behavioral concerns and struggles are one of them. When this is the case, behavioral rehabilitation is added to that pet's Rehoming Care Plan.

06

Discretion & Anonymity

FTLOA takes maintaining confidentiality very seriously to ensure the safety and the comfort of the family that has chosen to rehome their pet.

There are a multitude of reasons why a family may come to the difficult decision to rehome a pet, but it can be one of the most compassionate decisions when it comes to the well-being of the animal.

Fur the Love of Animals will provide support to families looking to safely rehome their pet as well as provide on-site residency.

Our Rehoming Support program is currently open to all residents of southern Vermont. Depending on resources and space, we may be able to aid pets whose families live further away also.

For those interested in seeking support through our rehoming program, there is an online application that will need to be completed. This helps us to collect all the information we will need, and from which we will create an individualized Rehoming Care Plan for any pet we intake.

Please note that completing an application does not mean Fur the Love of Animals will be able to provide foster care along with the rehoming support, as our space and resources are very limited at this time.

Our Rehoming Support program is entirely funded by the local community. Through donations—both monetary and in-kind—and through the use of our Professional Pet Care services, YOU are making this vital program possible.
